Dr. Jana Miki’ala Souza was born and raised on Maui and attended Kamehameha School’s Kapalama campus on Oahu. She continued her undergraduate education at Pacific University prior to graduating from Pacific University’s School of Optometry in May 2008. She took a residency position at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Ocular Disease in July 2008, during which she had the opportunity to rotate through different ophthalmic subspecialties.
After completing her residency in June 2009, Dr. Souza continued as an independent contractor full time in the greater Miami area working regularly for established optometry offices such as LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, and various private offices. Dr. Souza then moved to northern Florida/southern Georgia and continued work as an independent optometric contractor, prior to moving to Hawaii and partnering in Hawaii Vision Specialists.
Dr. Souza looks forward to helping her patients see better with the latest in eyeglasses and contact lenses, as well as treating existing eye problems. She regularly participates with Dr. Driscoll in community vision screenings and is eager to help her fellow Big Islanders in their quest for better vision.
In her free time, Dr. Souza stays busy exercising, reading, and enjoying the water activities of Hawaii. Dr. Souza places a high value on her time with her family. She has enjoyed traveling to exotic destinations and is always eager to learn new sports and explore new places.
