Miki’ala Souza, OD

Dr. Miki’ala Souza, OD, is an ocular disease specialist. She brings extensive training and specialized knowledge to each patient she serves in her native state.

After growing up on Maui, Dr. Souza, went on to earn her doctorate at Pacific University School of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon. Immediately after receiving her degree, she accepted a residency at the esteemed Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, where she focused on eye diseases.

Through her work at Hawaii Vision Specialists, Dr. Souza helps patients see their best by diagnosing eye diseases and correcting their vision with eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Dan Driscoll, MD

Dr. Dan Driscoll, MD, is a highly experienced cataract and refractive surgeon with Hawaii Vision Specialists in Hilo, Hawaii. His goal is to provide top-tier services, so patients never have to leave the Big Island to receive the eye care they need.

After earning his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Driscoll continued his training at the esteemed Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida . On completing this residency, Dr. Driscoll stayed an extra year to receive intensive, specialized education and hands-on training in cornea, cataract, and laser eye surgery. Because of this Dr. Driscoll can offer surgical eye treatments many other eye doctors can’t.

Today, Dr. Driscoll is the only full-time cornea specialist on the Big Island. He is able to offer advanced surgical procedures and high-quality care to patients across the island.

Macy Hayashi, OD

Born and raised in Hilo, Dr. Hayashi returns to her hometown as an ocular disease specialist.

Dr. Hayashi received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. After receiving her doctorate, Dr. Hayashi completed a post-graduate residency program specializing in ocular disease at the Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

Erin Yamamoto, OD

Originally from Dallas, Texas, Dr. Yamamoto earned her doctorate at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. After completing rotations in ocular disease and community medicine in Colorado and California, she was thrilled to accept a position with Hawaii Vision Specialists and move to Hilo.

She enjoys providing quality care to patients from ages 0 to 100, specializing in pediatrics and ocular disease. When not seeing patients, Dr. Yamamoto enjoys spending time at the beach with her husband and their dog.
