Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL)

This is a lens that can be implanted into the eye in front of your natural lens in order to dramatically reduce your prescription, many times allowing you not to need to wear glasses or contacts.  This surgery is tailored mainly to younger patients (typically between age 21 and 45) who are nearsighted (need correction to see for distance), but who do not yet require glasses to read (pre-presbyopia).  This surgery can even help correct astigmatism.  Most importantly, this procedure can often be done safely and very effectively on patients who might have been told in the past they were not good candidates for laser refractive surgery (LASIK or PRK).

EVO ICL

EVO ICL, an Implantable Collamer Lens, is a refractive implant that corrects common vision issues related to refractive error (prescription), restores vision without the removal of any corneal tissue, is removable at any time, and is meant to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contacts. This procedure may be a good fit for people with high prescriptions (from -3 to -20 diopters) and can also benefit people who have severe dry eye, high astigmatism or thin corneas, where LASIK might not be an option.
